Welcome to The American International School of Freetown (AISF)

August 30, 2014

Updated and important new information about the AISF 2014-2015 School Year and campus opening.

Dear AISF Parents

The Board of Directors for the American International School of Freetown (AISF) has been following the development of the Ebola outbreak  in Sierra Leone and based on recent facts , has concluded that further to its first message , the postponement period for the opening of our school needs to extended to January 2015 .

The decision was to be revisited by October 1st  but we felt we owed it to our community to give all a chance to make alternate plans for the first quarter .We strongly believe at this point that this time frame will allow the Government and International Agencies to contain the Ebola outbreak and provide the country with a safe environment for our community and our children .  We understand that some families may be disappointed by our decision but student safety is our priority and we do not feel that we can guarantee their well being  before that time frame .

We will keep on updating  you as  frequently as possible over the next few weeks and months . However, please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish for further information and clarification.

Yours sincerely

Important message for our community about the Delayed Start to the School Year

Monday, August 18th 2014

 Dear AISF Parents

The Board of Directors for the American International School of Freetown (AISF) has decided that given the expected extremely low enrollment of students for the academic year 2014/2015 as a result of the Ebola outbreak, the opening of the school will be postponed.

The Ebola outbreak has direct and indirect consequences that have prompted concerns by Governments and International Agencies with regard to being able to provide adequate and emergency health services.  As student safety is the number one priority for AISF, the Board has decided that it is in the best interests of the AISF Community that we postpone the school opening until the 13th of October 2014. The decision will be revisited by October 1st and a further update on the school’s operations and opening will be provided and confirmed to the Community at that time.  We understand that this may cause families additional stress, but we hope that our communications over the next few weeks and months will be timely and will allow parents to make the best educational decisions for their children.

Further information will be provided to all community members over the next few weeks. However, please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish for further information and clarification.

Yours sincerely

AISF offers an educational experience like no other. When people ask, “What sets AISF apart from other schools?” the five best answers are:

1) Our teachers are from seven different countries and are all native English speakers. All of them have university degrees or certification and are experienced educators.

2) Our students come from over 25 different countries and add to the diversity of our truly internationally-minded school.

3) We are committed to the highest educational standards of an American-curriculum, standards based school.

4) We are the only fully US Accredited school in Freetown.

5) We have an amazing array of activities including large campus activities, After School Activities, field trips and special events.

Our students become smart, confident and inquiring members of our community who are ready for success in life and school.

With warmest regards till we see you in Freetown,

The AISF School Community
